Charity Nest was founded to help small and local charities that profoundly impact people's lives. These organisations are often a vital lifeline and beacon of hope for vulnerable people who might otherwise be forgotten.
The existence of these charities is essential for sustainably protecting the most vulnerable members of our communities and supporting the national welfare system.
At Charity Nest, we are committed to providing these charities with reliable support and guidance, standing with them during their time of need.
Small.
In the UK, 82% of charities are small charities (136,000+), and the majority of small charities (79%) work locally, compared to only a small number (5%) of super-major charities. At present, within the UK, we are experiencing a significant decline within our small charity sector, with more small charities closing each year than opening. For the last 10 years, small charities’ income has also decreased by 20%, whereas the income of larger charities has increased by 30%.
Local.
94% of global consumers think that businesses should do more than just make money (they should give back), and in the UK, 78% of people are concerned about the health of those who are most vulnerable in their communities and want to see more support for local community projects and charities. However, three quarters (73%) of charities and community groups say they struggle with opportunities to meet and work with businesses.
